The Mesoscale Eddy Trajectory Atlas DT (META3.2 DT twosat and META3.2 DT allsat) products, processed by CNES/CLS in the DUACS system, are generated and quality-controlled following the methodology developed E. Mason at the Instituto Mediterráneo de Estudios Avanzados (IMEDEA, Spain). This twosat dataset contains short trajectory (lifetime < 10 days) “anticyclonic and cyclonic eddies detected from the multimission altimetry datasets, with their location, contours, amplitude, radius speed and associated metadata, for the whole altimetry period: 1993-ongoing.” Details on detection, filtering and processing can be found in the Eddy Trajectory Atlas Product Handbook. This dataset is composed of the trajectories and all associated parameters for the eddies detected with the py-eddy-tracker algorithm (Mason et al., 2014) freely released under a GPL V3 license (https://github.com/AntSimi/py-eddy-tracker). The original dataset includes 50 samples per observation with variations in effective contour location and speed. CMAP includes the first sample of each observation.
